Storm clouds gather over the coasts of Catan. As your once-humble settlements grow into mighty cities, your prosperity attracts the attention of marauding invaders. To protect the island and preserve peace, players must unite and build an army of brave knights.
“CATAN: Cities & Knights” is one of the most popular and strategic expansions for CATAN, significantly deepening the base game. It introduces three new commodities—paper, cloth, and coins—produced by upgraded cities. These commodities are used to build city improvements, unlocking powerful new abilities and additional victory points.
The expansion also adds three development card decks, drawn after constructing city improvements. Players can recruit knights to control the robber and defend Catan against invading forces. Successful defenses reward the player with the strongest knight force, while failed defenses penalize the weakest.
The victory condition is raised to 13 victory points, making the game longer, more tactical, and more intense.
