Inferno
Inferno is a strategic board game inspired by the first part of Divine Comedy. In the story, Dante Alighieri descends into Hell in search of his beloved Beatrice, guided by the Roman poet Virgil.
In the game, players manage the souls of sinners, guiding them through the nine circles of Hell and placing them in the correct circle according to their sins. Successfully guiding a soul earns Infamy Points.
Game Board
The board is divided into two sections:
Inferno – displaying the nine circles of Hell and the soul registry
Florence in the early 14th century – featuring political intrigue and power struggles
Turn Structure
Each turn has two phases:
Inferno Phase
- Move a soul through Hell
- Earn Infamy Points if it reaches its correct circle
Florence Phase
Choose one action:
- perform a city action (adopt a street urchin, build a new level of your family tower, invite an influential character home, etc.)
- expose a sinner, leading to their execution and sending their soul to Hell
With each death, Dante moves closer to his descent. When he reaches the gate leading to Purgatory, the game ends.
The player with the most Infamy Points wins and is declared the most untrustworthy.
